The Herald is a toy robot with a TV for a head riding a camel, who appears numerous times throughout the Fallen City. Each time Valor meets the Herald, he tells part of a story about two brothers. This story is framed in a medieval setting, but is actually about Valor and Varty. Spraying him with link fluid will prompt him to tell an alternate story.
Hear, hear, traveler, the tale of the land: In the lands below, full of wealth and joy, lived a king, so noble, crafting soldiers from rust and toys. Two brothers were born to a house on high. One a grim fighter. The other a master of the mind.
Hear, hear, traveler, the tale of the land: They rode together and roamed the land, until the wild beauty with hair like sand. The king reached out, her hand shall be thine. She smiled and laughed and whispered benign: Be my friend, be my love and hear my fable: Deep in the earth I seek the Cradle.
Hear, hear, traveler, the tale of the land: Black was the knight, and so was the night, when he and his henchmen lead the kingdom to blight. They captured the queen by the power of law, and dragged her away with the king in awe. To the yellow lair of the dragon they went, and forced her below, never to ascend. Betrayed by his brother, forsaken by love, He screamed and grieved and moaned thereof.
Hear, hear, traveler, the tale of the land: The King now was lonely, his friends all left, his spirit was broken, his life bereft. He called upon wizards from near and far, who might calm his sadness and bring back a star? “This magic potion can turn flesh into power, but beware my king, your soul it shall devour.”
Hear, hear, traveler, the tale of the land: The Queen is dead, the king turned mad. “Give me the poison, the more the better!”, he in tears, upon reading the letter. His heart turned black as the corruption spread, he swore death to his brother, with the eye shining red. In the lands below, full of wealth and pain, lived a king, so sad, crafting soldiers from flesh and blain.
